You’ve carried the phrase “In God We Trust” around for years without thinking about it once. It’s stamped on every coin in your pocket and printed across every bill in your wallet, in a font small enough that nobody actually reads it anymore. It became the national motto in 1956. Most people who’ve spent it a thousand times couldn’t tell you that, and couldn’t tell you when it stopped meaning anything to them either — assuming it ever did.
We put those same four words on the inside of a collar.
The outward design is small on purpose. A hand-drawn cross sits quiet on the chest, “Trust In Him” worked directly into the crossbar — no mountain graphic, no arch of block type, no verse citation floating above it. Just a cross small enough that you’d have to be looking for it to notice it, on a man who clearly isn’t trying to be noticed either. That’s the whole design register for this line: quiet conviction, not a chest that argues with people at the grocery store.
Flip the collar and the motto’s there again, except this time it’s not decoration on currency nobody actually reads. “In God We Trust.” Same four words, completely different job. On a dollar bill, it’s civic wallpaper — official, permanent, and functionally invisible. On the inside of a shirt only you can see, it’s a question you’re actually answering, or trying to. Some days it’s a motto you could recite without thinking. Some days it’s the only sentence keeping you upright, and you mean every word of it for the first time in a while.
That’s not a coincidence, and it’s not really about the money either. The same four words can sit on a coin as a formality and sit on a collar as a decision — the difference isn’t the words, it’s whether anyone’s actually asking the question when they read them. Most of the time, the coin wins. This shirt is built for the days the collar does.

This isn’t a design that needs anyone to get the reference. Someone can read “Trust In Him” on the chest and take it exactly at face value — that’s the whole point of the small, quiet cross. But if they know the collar’s there, they know there’s more to it than a graphic. That’s not a hidden message for the sake of having one. It’s just where the real conviction actually lives — not in the part everyone sees, in the part nobody has to.
Good for the guy who’s never been loud about what he believes and isn’t about to start now. Good for the one who needs the reminder more than he’d ever say out loud. Either way, it’s yours before it’s anyone else’s — same as it was on the coin, if you’d ever actually stopped to read it.
